Pacesetter Poets org. was founded during the International Conference of English and Literary Studies which held on February 2010 in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

The intellectual gathering afforded university wits and poets to meet and discuss the future of poetry in Nigeria. It was in that meeting that we realised that students of different universities were embarking on poetic progress with much difficulty as there was no opportunity to publish or to showcase their works. Another major challenge for universities such as University of Ado Ekiti, University of Nigeria Nsukka and Ahmadu Bello University, to mention a few, was that there was the inexistence of the Association of Nigerian Authors(ANA) which had helped to encourage creativity. Other Universities who had the Association and other creative associations expressed dissatisfaction about the lack of commitment, encouragement, seminars, readings and awards which are pivotal to the high sense of creating a platform for younger poets. ‘The student-poets’ as they can be best described feel the absence of mentorship, of encouragement and of opportunities and are engrossed in the wonderment of their universities producing the likes of the late Femi Fatoba, late Christopher Okigbo,  J. P Clark, Akeem Lasisi,  Sam Omatseye, Niyi Osundare, etc.

Pacesetter Poets org. is therefore determined to create a platform for all university wits or poets and graduates who are poets, where not only ideas will be shared but a place where national integrity, religious tolerance, poetic styles, readings, seminars, awards and publishing will be a thing of unified struggle as we will churn out anthologies of poetry.

We are in need of grants and any other financial, moral and interconnectivity assistance to start our programmes, awards programme, seminars and well publicised readings.

We are poised to bring back the glory days of literary juggernauts. We believe that with groups such as this the NNLG, AWF, and the Nobel Laurete Committee will be amazed at the poetic prowess of Nigerian Poets. This is our own Macedonia of rhyme and Rhythm. We also believe that the progress of this organisation will raise great intellectuals, philosophers and individuals with a high sense of cultured literary wit instead of cultists and political bandits that have carried out a putsch on the governance of peace and creativity on campuses.

Join us, help us, be a part of the solution of the Nigerian Dilemma by starting a literary movement.
